Emma Scott Willow Craft
I am based at Mellingey Mill Willow Craft Center in North Cornwall. I grow and sell a variety of willow and make many willow products. I teach workshops throughout the year making many different items from baskets to living willow work. Mellingey Mill is set in 12.5 acres of beautiful valley woodland with willow beds, meadows and has a stream and a mill pond. When ever possible I teach in the field shelter adding to the experience of your workshop. I find offering this space beneficial and enjoyable to the client, working surrounded by the materials we are using adds a deeper understanding and appreciation to the craft. ![]() |
Sculpture tutor
I've been teaching people to sculpt for 25 years, whether a complete novice or a teacher wanting some CPD all are welcome. My philosophy is 'there are no wrong answers' I create an environment of confidence and self esteem in my classes, which enables and encourages students to explore their own sculptural potential. I have a vast knowledge of materials and techniques so I work in any material and at any size and genre. Students can also explore mould making and cast their work if they so wish. Some of my previous students have gone on to sell there work so I also teach a module on enterprise including copyright protection, marketing and how to make a profit from your artwork. As well as my own studio workshops, I am currently resident artist at Sowenna so am highly experienced at working with students with mental health issues, confidence building and improving self esteem. |
Moorland Woodcraft
Along with turning individual pieces John demonstrates, gives individual tuition and talks to the local community. The aim of the initial course is to acquaint you with the necessary skills at the lathe and to ensure a pleasurable and rewarding experience, in an informal and friendly atmosphere. The courses are very much "hands-on". This is ‘one to one’ allowing closer personal tuition than would be possible with a group, so that real benefit can be gained. A degree of flexibility in course content is always allowed so that the emphasis can be placed where each individual student finds it most helpful. |
