Bal Maiden Studio Glass

Bal Maiden Studio Glass are glass makers and glass teachers in Trevenen Bal in Helston, West Cornwall.

We have over a decade of experience working in glass.  We design and produce traditional and modern glass for domestic and architectural spaces. Our bespoke commissioning service offers a wide variety of techniques and finishes including leaded stained glass, fusing, sandblasting, kiln-formed casting and painting.

The studio is run by glass artist Noreen Todd  who loves to pass on her expertise to would-be and fledgling glass-makers. Noreen has developed a range of introductory day and evening courses in glass making. Students can also benefit from one-on-one tuition or can hire our studio and/or hire glass making equipment by by special arrangement. Glass making eqipment for hire includes:  sand-blaster, kiln hire, cold-working machine hire, torch hire and hot-shop hire

We have regular  follow-on sessions on Monday and Wednesday afternoons and evenings, of 3 hours each session, for those who have taken one or more of our courses. These sessions are also open studio sessions for those who have not taken our courses, who do not need supervision, assistance or tuition and who do hold their own professional indemnity insurance.

Discounts are avialable for group bookings of 4 or more people on the same day and also have gift vouchers available, if you would like to give one of our classes as a present. These are ideal for a birthday present or Christmas gift.

Noreen also creates her unique glass pieces and jewellery right here in the glass studio when she is not busy teaching glass making skills to her students or working on bespoke glass art commissions.

She has worked and trained with some of the most widely respected glass makers in the UK and abroad. As a glass artist she puts creativity before the need to be commercial which is why her glass workshops are highly affordable and her unique glass work is full of surprises and unpredictability.

Bal Maiden Studio Glass are members of both Contemporary Glass Society and Cornwall Ceramics and Glass Group.

Classes normally run from 9.00am to 5.00pm and include the following workshops: jewellery making, modern glass fusing, painting on glass, open mould casting, lost-wax casting, glass decorating, glass up-cycling.
